Overcoming Stress and Anxiety

October 17, 24, 31 | November 7

£20 for 4 week course pay on the door | £7 drop-in | free for members

Perhaps the most common impediment to our wellbeing and happiness is the almost universal experience of stress and anxiety. These negative states of mind frequently interfere with our ability to perform our daily tasks, our capacity to cope with unexpected or challenging situations, and our chances of experiencing a contented and fulfilling life.

In this series,  we will identify precisely the inner causes of these mental ailments, how they develop and become habitual, and how we can begin to reduce and ultimately overcome them. By applying this understanding and experience to our daily lives, we will lighten the heavy load that stress and anxiety bring to us.

This series is based on the book How to Solve our Human Problems by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

Silencing the Inner Critic

November 14, 21, 28 | December 5, 12

£25 for 5 week course pay on the door | £7 drop-in | free for members

As we go about our daily tasks, when faced with a new challenge, in social situations, when remembering the past, contemplating the future, or even when we just try to enjoy ourselves, we frequently experience a critical and self-defeating inner voice.

This tendency diminishes our confidence, reduces our capacity, and agitates our mind. We pass up opportunities, struggle to grow as a person, and may adversely influence those around us.

In this series we will explore the roots of the minds of guilt and self-criticism, contemplate their many disadvantages, and develop the wish and the ability to be free from them. In this way we can restore our confidence and begin to make real inner progress.

This series is based on the book How to Solve our Human Problems by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
