Foundation Programme

Mondays 7-9pm

With Gen Kelsang Sherab
Foundation Program (FP) is the perfect next step for those who have enjoyed attending short courses and classes on our General Programme (GP), and would like take their practice to a deeper level.
About Foundation Programme

Joining FP involves enrolling for a section of the book and attending all the classes in that section. Each class consists of chanted prayers, a guided meditation, teaching and discussion. The classes are systematic and interactive and students will find that their knowledge and wisdom grows week by week as a result. The book currently being studied is Joyful Path of Good Fortune.

Joyful Path of Good Fortune by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

A clear and comprehensive explanation of the entire path to enlightenment. We all have the potential for self-transformation, and a limitless capacity for the growth of good qualities, but to fulfil this potential we need to know what to do along every stage of our spiritual journey.

With this book, Geshe Kelsang offers us step-by-step guidance on the meditation practices that will lead us to lasting inner peace and happiness. With extraordinary clarity, he presents all Buddha’s teachings in the order in which they are to be practised, enriching his explanation with stories and illuminating analogies. This is a perfect guidebook to the Buddhist path.

The oral transmission of the book, combined with teachings, guided meditations and discussion, will build our confidence to apply Dharma in daily life. By doing this consistently, we will joyfully turn our initial insights into actual realisations of Dharma.

Most of all, by building a connection with the teachings and spiritual friends, Foundation Program is the perfect way to energise and sustain our spiritual life.

Joyful Path of Good Fortune is available in our shop or from Tharpa Publications.

How to Join

Enrolling for FP requires committing to study a book or a section of a book and completing the book or section, including attending all the classes and taking an exam. The classes are held on Monday evenings from 7 to 9pm. There is an option to enrol to study by correspondence for those who cannot attend in person due to distance or personal disability.

Please contact our Education Programme Coordinator, Annabel, on education@meditateinscotland.org to discuss joining the programme or to try out a taster class. We recommend a 4 week trial before enrolling and committing to complete the book or section of a book.
