Volunteering

Help to Create World Peace

KMC Glasgow is a volunteer-run charity and there are many ways you can support the activities of the Centre.

Volunteering is a fun way to meet like-minded people, learn new skills and get more involved.

Volunteering at the Centre can take as little or as much time as you wish and every little help will be greatly appreciated!

Centre Cherishing Days ~ Friday 19 June 2-5pm

Come and join us for Centre Cherishing on dedicated days, and help make our centre sparkle and shine!

Please email admin@meditateinscotland.org for more info and to sign up, or just come along. Any time you have to help out will be very much appreciated!

Our next Centre Cherishing Day is Friday 19 June, from 2 – 5pm.

Making Offerings

We have an authentic Kadampa Buddhist shrine with many beautiful Buddha statues, and each day we place fresh water, tea and other traditional items in front of the shrine as a method to increase our good fortune and connection to enlightened beings.  You don’t need to be Buddhist to engage in this contemplative practice; anyone with a sincere with to learn more can participate.

Publicity Distribution

We regularly go out in small groups to put flyers and posters in local shops and businesses so that people can learn more about our classes and events. This is one of the main ways that people learn about us, and we have a committed group of students who love going out every few weeks, and often members of the public will strike up a conversation wanting to learn more about meditation.  New volunteers are always paired with a more experienced person, so no previous experience is needed, but an outgoing personality is very helpful!  Average time is 2 hours per outing.

Assisting Classes

Our temple is open seven days, and due to our beautiful and quiet city centre location, members of the public often stop in to have a look through our gift shop, relax and chat around our comfortable seating area, or enjoy a few precious minutes in quiet contemplation in our meditation area.  Our trained team of volunteers welcome students and visitors, answer queries, take shop payments and bookings, and assist with the smooth running of our diverse array of classes.

Other Opportunities

We have many other opportunities to help at our special events, and in the general running and upkeeping of the centre, especially if you have special skills and knowledge so please don’t hesitate to give us a shout if you want to get
involved.
