In-Depth Classes

Foundation Programme

Mondays 7 – 9pm with Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Sherab

Foundation Program (FP) is the perfect next step for those who have enjoyed attending short courses and classes on our General Programme (GP), and would like to take their practice to a deeper level.

About Foundation Programme

The Foundation Programme (FP) at KMC Glasgow provides an opportunity to engage in systematic study and meditation on the essential subjects of Kadampa Buddhism based on six books by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. The emphasis in the classes, which consist of teachings, chanted prayers, meditation, and discussion, is on gaining practical experience of Buddha’s teachings that you can apply to your daily life.

FP is a tried and tested way to gain a deeper understanding of the meaning of Buddha’s teachings, maintain a daily meditation practice that is both focused and powerful, and make genuine spiritual progress. If you have been coming to classes regularly and have been getting a lot out of your GP classes but feel you want to go a bit deeper with your study and practice – the systematic study of this essential Buddhist text on FP may be a perfect next step for you.

Joyful Path of Good Fortune

The book currently being studied is Joyful Path of Good Fortune. A clear and comprehensive explanation of the entire path to enlightenment. We all have the potential for self-transformation, and a limitless capacity for the growth of good qualities, but to fulfil this potential we need to know what to do along every stage of our spiritual journey.

With this book, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso offers us step-by-step guidance on the meditation practices that will lead us to lasting inner peace and happiness. With extraordinary clarity, he presents all Buddha’s teachings in the order in which they are to be practised, enriching his explanation with stories and illuminating analogies. This is a perfect guidebook to the Buddhist path.

The oral transmission of the book, combined with teachings, guided meditations and discussion, will build our confidence to apply Dharma in daily life. By doing this consistently, we will joyfully turn our initial insights into actual realisations of Dharma.

Joyful Path of Good Fortune is available in our shop or from Tharpa Publications.
