About Kadampa Meditation Centre Glasgow

Kadampa Meditation Centre Glasgow is a registered charity (no. SC029515), and part of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union, an international union of Kadampa Meditation Centres founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, a world renowned meditation master, Teacher, and author.

Affectionately known as Venerable Geshe-la, he is the founder of Modern Kadampa Buddhism, and has inspired thousands of people around the world to apply the pure teachings of Buddha to their modern lives to solve their personal problems and discover a deep and lasting inner peace and happiness.

At Kadampa Meditation Centre Glasgow we offer to the people of Glasgow and the west of Scotland the opportunity to experience the benefits of Modern Kadampa Buddhist teachings through daily meditation classes, workshops and retreats, in-depth study programmes, and chanted prayers. These highly practical teachings  are accessible to anyone regardless of nationality, religion, culture, gender or age. Our varied schedule of classes includes mid-morning and evening classes, short lunchtime meditations, after-work classes, and weekend workshops both in our permanent city centre space, and in ‘branch’ classes throughout the city and beyond.

Having spent 11 years in Merchant City, we have recently moved our city Temple to Argyle Works on Argyle Street, just 5 minutes walk from Glasgow Central Station.  We also hold regular evening classes in Glasgow Southside, East Kilbride, Milngavie, Greenock, and Paisley.

Everyone is welcome! Please feel free to drop in for a visit. During our opening hours there is always someone at hand who can answer your questions and tell you more about the Centre. You can check out the shop which sells books by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, prayer booklets, meditation CDs, Buddhist artwork and gifts. Or feel free to just enjoy the beautiful shrine and relax in our comfortable sitting and reading area.
