Tuesday Evening Classes
The Habits of Happy People
Tuesdays 7 – 8.30pm
11th, 18th, 25th August, 1st & 8th September
We tend to make the attainment of happiness more complicated than it actually is, by believing that we need things such as success, praise, status, looks, possessions and so forth to achieve it. The reality is that none of these things can give us lasting happiness and chasing them actually makes us prone to anxiety, frustration and disappointment.
Buddha explains simple attitudes that we can all learn to cultivate that will make us really happy. On this course we will explore through teachings and guided meditations how we can cultivate the happy minds of contentment, gratitude, acceptance and joy.
Of course one of the best habits we can develop is a daily meditation practice that will help us each day to be happy no matter what life throws at us.
Everyone is welcome!
Stillness Within
Tuesdays 7 – 8.30pm
15th, 22nd, 29th September & 6th October
Learn three simple meditations that will lead you to an experience of inner peace and mental clarity. Based on the guided ‘Meditations for a Clear Mind‘ audio, and derived from the Mahamudra teachings of Kadampa Buddhism, these meditations help us to unlock our inner potential for lasting peace and happiness.
Through the first meditation we lay the foundation for meditating on the mind by helping to temporarily overcome physical appearances and to balance the inner energies that influence our state of mind.
The second meditation introduces us to the clarity of our mind. By dissolving our cloud-like thoughts and mental busyness within the inner space of our mind, we can experience a deep, inner peace.
The third meditation is on the space-like clarity of our root mind, watching our thoughts dissolve into the clarity of our root mind at our heart centre. In this way we can keep a clear, positive mind, even when we are out of meditation.
Following this series of classes, there will be an opportunity to deepen your experience of these meditations by joining our Clear Mind Retreat from 23 – 25 October.
