Becoming a Friend of the World
Saturday 7 March
with Resident Teacher Gen Kelsang Tubchen
About this course
Through understanding and practising Buddha’s teachings on bodhichitta, the mind of enlightenment, we can develop a good heart that is powerful, loving and wise. With this good heart we can heal our own suffering and the suffering of others around us.
In this special day course, you will learn how to develop this supremely altruistic mind through meditation. You will also discover how to transform daily life through the practice of the six perfections which are giving, moral discipline, patience, effort, concentration and wisdom.
Finally, a special Bodhisattva Vow ceremony will be offered in which people will have the opportunity to renew their vow or to become a member of the Mahayana Buddhist family, becoming like a son or daughter of Buddha. This vow will ensure the swift attainment of enlightenment for whoever takes it and it helps us to develop a powerful altruistic intention and direction. It is said whoever takes the Bodhisattva Vow and keeps it purely will constantly be creating positive energy day and night, even while asleep.
In this way we can truly become a friend to the world who affects everyone they meet in the best possible way.
Everyone is welcome!
